Gretchen Colwell - Head Coach/ Throws
The 2017 season will be Coach Colwell's 7th season as head coach. She is a great motivator and personally, she loves seeing how excited the student athletes become when they improve their times and distances. She is a Health and Physical Education teacher at the Donegal High School and has a B.S. in Sport Management & Business, an M.Ed in Health and Physical Education, and is currently working on a Certificate in Adapted Physical Education. Coach Colwell is a USATF Level 1 certified coach.
While at IUP she threw shot, indoor weight, and hammer, setting school records in the weight and hammer throws. In 2008, Coach Colwell won the conference championship in both events and alsoo qualified for the NCAA Championships for indoor shot, indoor weight throw and the hammer throw. She placed 12th at the NCAA Championshipss in the hammer.
In high school, Coach Colwell excelled in basketball and Track & Field at Redbank Valley HS. She was a three time District champion and competed at the PIAA State Championships in shot put 3 times and discus once, placing 2nd in shot put in 2004. She still holds school records in shot & disc.
Eric Schuck- Sprints/ Relays
The 2017 season will be Coach Schuck's 12th season at Donegal. Coach Schuck works with the sprinters, coordinates strength training, and supervises the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays. He earned his USA Track & Field Level 1 Coaching Certification in August 2006 and USA Track & Field Level 2 Coaching Certification for Sprints/ Hurdles/ Relays in July 2008. In July 2013 Coach Schuck obtained his USTF&CCCA certification as a Sprint, Hurdle & Relay Event Specialist. He also is recognized as a Level 1 Certified Sports Performance Coach (2009) by USA Weightlifting.
Coach Schuck was a sprinter as a student at Manheim Township HS where he finished 3rd in the 400m at districts and was a state qualifier his junior year. Coach Schuck is employed as a sales engineer by a company that offers industrial automation and software solutions.
Duane Koser- Mid/ Long Distance
The 2017 season will be Duane's 10th season in charge of coaching distance events. He had previously helped with the distance events as a volunteer coach for several seasons, and knows the program well from competing at Donegal as an athlete. Duane then competed at the Naval Academy and still runs and competes locally.
Highlights of his career were finishing 2nd at states in crosscountry his senior year and winning a district championship. He also is on the Top Ten Track and Field Honor Roll at Donegal in the mile and 3200 meters. He placed 3rd in the 3200 meters at States his senior year. He has earned his USA Track & Field Level 1 Coaching Certification.
Coach Justin Hill- Hurdles and Jumps
The 2017 season will be Coach Hills 6th season at Donegal. In high school Coach Hill was a hurdler and high jumper.
Pam Kolp- Throws
Coach Kolp has coached throwers for many years at Donegal. She was an athlete at Donegal competing in basketball, track and field hockey. She is on the Donegal Track & Field Top 10 Honor Roll in the javelin, shot put, and discus and did place 2nd at States her senior year. She has also coached several other sports at Donegal including, basketball, softball, and field hockey.
She has had quite a bit of succes coaching the throwers at Donegal. The Donegal honor roll is covered with athletes she has coached, and she routinely has helped athletes make the state meet where several athletes have won state medals.
Coach Dave Lloyd - Triple Jump
The 2017 season will be Coach Lloyd's 4th season helping with the triple jump. In high school, he was a jumper and sprinter.
Andy Wittle - Pole Vault
The 2017 season will be Andy's 5th season as a Pole Vault coach. Andy is a former Donegal Track athlete. He is a Donegal alum.
As an athlete, Andy won medals at the LLL Championshsips in the pole vault and 4x100m and is on the Donegal Top Ten Honor Roll in both events.
Scott Goodwill - Mid/ Long Distance
The 2017 season will be Coach Goodwill's 5th season helping with the long jump.
He is a teacher at Donegal Intermediate.
Phil Koser- Distance
The 2017 season will be Coach Koser's 16th season being involved in Track at Donegal. He has been a head coach for 5 seasons, and prior to becoming head coach he was an assistant coach for 4 years. Coach Koser has coached sprinters, hurdlers, and middle and long distance runners at Donegal. Phil has also coached the Donegal Cross Country team at both the HS and JH levels for the past 10 years. In July 2006 Coach Koser earned his USA Track & Field Level 1 Coaching Certification.
Coach Koser works for the Donegal School District teaching 6th grade at Donegal Middle School. He is a Hempfield HS and Messiah College graduate where he competed in both cross country and track.
