This was a great opportunity to see how we stack up as team since the race was divided up into classifications. We had a number of PR's for a challenging course and picked up some medals as a bonus. Looking ahead to this week's meet with all Section 2 teams, we are looking to come away with a few more wins.

Meet 2 at Warwick

Despite not coming away with a win against a few of the best teams in the League, we had a super day with nearly everyone running a personal best. The boys now have 4 individuals qualified for the District meet (under 20 minutes): Cole Rinehart, Kaleb Brown, Kadin Heisey and Nathan King. The girls now have 6 qualified individuals (under 24 minutes), which give us enough to compete at Districts as a team: Sami Stoner, Tess Fernald, Bethany Gohn, Elizabeth Keener, Audrey Lloyd and Hannah Spoonhour. I am proud of the way this group stepped it up and pushed themselves (Coach Duane).

The jh boys and girls had a difficult day against some of the bigger schools in the league too. They both did come away with victories over E-town, and close meets against Garden Spot and Manheim Township.

Meet 1 At Lancaster County Park

Tuesday Sept 4th
Despite the rain and muddy conditions along the Conestoga river at Lancaster County Park (McCaskey course) for our season opener, both our squads performed very well.
The boys were lead by Cole Rinehart and followed by our core group of guys, Kaleb Brown, Nathan King and Kadin Heisey. Our 5th man today was an up and coming freshman Zach Miller. They accomplished their goal of out scoring Elco, who is in our section (2), and start the year 1-0 in the section.
Our girls were lead by Sami Stoner, and thenTess Fernald in their first varsity races. Followed by a tight group girls, Audrey Lloyd, Elizabeth Keener and Hannah Spoonhour to round out our top 5. They also picked off a section team, Elco, and just missed beating section 1 McCaskey by 2 points. This girls squad has a lot of potential and should surprise a few teams.

The jh squads ran just as well. The jh boys were lead by Austin Burkholder's first place finish overall. He and the boys combined to beat ELCO and Solanco. The girls were lead by Seneca Straub with the 8th overall place. The girls defeated ELCO and start the year with a 1-0 record vs section 2 opponents.

John Rudy Park Scimmage 2012 Results

The Lady Indians were off to a pretty good start to the season Thursday in their 1st scrimmage of the season. Sami Stoner and Tess Fernald lead the girls' team with overall strong performances. As a group the top 5 finished within 1 min 50 sec, allowing for a tight scoring pack. Look for the girls to close the gap making them a strong team this season.

One the boys side, senior Cole Rinehart and junior Caleb Brown lead the way. Caleb ran extremely well, setting himself a new personal best going into the season. The boys now have one race under their belts and look forward to the season opener Tuesday against McCaskey, Solanco, and ElCO.
